This is a mental arithmetik technique that helps them through the simplification of calculations. This will really help them calculate better and faster.

For example, instead of taking out their pen and paper when they are asked to calculate the sum of 2.95 and 2.45, all they have to do is to round off 2.95 to 3 and 2.45 to 2.5. This will give them 5.5 but since they rounded it off, they just need to subtract it from the sum. By doing this, they will easily arrive to the correct answer of 5.4.
