Who do you want to be this Halloween?

I know it is way to early to discuss about costumes for halloween. For me, I always love it when things are prepared. I know I have time so I might as well try to check on what I can be or what I can be wearing for halloween.

I can imagine kids going house to house and ask for candies. I have two nephews and I need a child halloween costumes. The halloween party will most likely be at school and to support my nephews I would need an adult halloween costumes for me and the two nannies.

I can be a witch even though kids really call me real witch for I am very strict. My nephews can be dwarfs or something. This is making me excited.

I will be in GENSAN for MBS2

I do not know whether I am still in or not but what the heck.

Caracoles Festival of Island Garden City of Samal

This is Island Garden City of Samal. The beaches are great. White sand, great for diving. It is one ferry boat ride from Davao City.

Caracoles Festival on April 28-29, 2008. Pictures were from the previous Caracoles Festival.

(Like those in Hollywood)

(I think he got lost. He should be out in the sea not in the island)

The island is known to have world's largest colony of Geoffrey's Rousette (Rousettus Amplexicaudatus) fruit bats living in the Monfort Bat Sanctuary on Tambo, Babak, Island Garden City of Samal.

Pearl Farm Beach Resort. Expensive resort but worth it.

Great place for diving.

Happy Birthday! Hunee

This is the story why I have two birth dates. The reason why April 20 is my birthday.

My real birthday should be April 25, but for some human typo error, the nurse in charge who made the report for the City Registrar typed April 20, 1980 instead of April 25, 1980. Although the birth copy that my mother received says I was born April 25, 1980 but the document was not stamped by the City Registrar so the document is not legal. The copy my mother have turned out not to be recognized and the purpose of that copy was to tell my mother that I am going to be registered with those informations on that paper.

I never thought there was an error since I normally celebrate on the 25th not until I applied for a degree on a university. The school asked for a Certified Copy from National Statistics Office and there I was laughing. Since then I have two birthdays. I tell you, it is so damn expensive to have two birthdays. I decided back then to use April 20 to be official since court says I can't change the numbers but I can change my name. I spent thousands for the court to take sides with me but the judge says I can change all the pertinent records I have to the 20th.

I have been celebrating my birthday on this day, April 20, for 10 years now. Although before I do get 2 celebrations for some people do come on the 25th and some new friends come on the 20th. Lucky for me now, my old friends are somewhere out there and can no longer come. They just mail me postcards and emails or e card or something. My new acquaintances normally asked me to go out for a dinner whenever they are free. Since we have work and some have families, I celebrate my birthday for the whole month of April. It is not that expensive now because 70% of the time, I don't pay for the dinner. Lucky me!

I love it when people are sending me postcards and I already have that album where I put all postcards in it from anywhere in the world. I am such a friendly person, and I do trust someone easily. For whoever you are that can't send me postcard leave me a birthday comment, I will appreciate it a lot. *Grins* :D

It'll be my birthday soon. Make a guess of when is my birthday and you'll get a gift from me.

Cheerful lady online
The jolly person for real
Sweet girl
Smart ass babe
Geek chick
Traveling guru
Outdoor enthusiast
Loving person
(What else can you say about me?)

I am definitely cheerful, I don't like fake but I do respect you if you want space. I am sweet, smart and very deadly when you try to mess up with me. I love technology but I am way not so much in love with it. I still got too many things to learn about technology. I love to give hugs and smacks. I do love to travel and take pictures. Outdoor is the best, you can see the other persons real attitude and how she or he deals with life. Very much loving and I don't keep hate in my heart. - Hunee

My Earth Hour

I first heard of Earth Hour at Twitter.com.
I can still remember who invited me for Earth Hour at Facebook.com, it was my twitter buddy, Gretchen. Honestly, I don't know anything about it not till I ask some twitter buds. Out of that moment, I suggested to DT (Dailytwitter), what if we ask some twitter friends all over the globe to take one shot of their Earth Hour celebration. We aim to get 10 but sadly because of short noticed, we got 5 pictures from different people.

My very own Earth Hour celebration is to take snap shots of different establishments participating in the said event. Sadly, none of which that are near to where I am turned off their lights for Earth Hour. My date is also an airhead which made my whole evening useless and unproductive.

If I could have known earlier then I would have prepared for it very well. It's not my event though, it is just that some people never care anymore. I can't just say the whole Davao did not participate, that would be unfair for those who silently celebrated Earth Hour in their individual homes.

I hope one day when there will be a worldwide event like this and we all know it does not consume much of our energy and time, I do hope we contribute somehow. I mean, this is for the earth we are living in.

Araw ng Dabaw 2008

I didn't participate much on this particular event. Not that I don't like the street parade of colors and dances, I just like Kadayawan better than the city's birthday. One reason is, Kadayawan is fruits, people, dances, and flowers. The festival of all festivals.

If you don't know what Kadayawan is, here's a link. Pictures here.

March 16, 2008.

History of Davao

In 1930's there was an issue of whether who should rule Davao, the Japanese or the local Davaoeños. The issue has led to the creation of the city.

Today, Davao City is known as the Little Tokyo for most of the people that lived here are descendants of mostly Japanese soldiers. Japanese where able to gain access to a vast land where mostly abaca is planted. Davao was the biggest producer of Abaca in the world. Despite laws on restricting foreign people to own lands, they managed to marry local women particularly those with Datu lineage, using dummies to buy lands or renting at local landowners.

In 1930's, Davao was completely under the control of Japanese. By 1939, their population grew to 17,900 and the presence of Japanese at this time becomes a national problem.

On March 16, 1936 Davao Assemblyman Romualdo Quimpo filed Bill No. 609, an Act creating the City of Davao. The City of Davao was to be formed by combining the capital town of Davao and the municipal district of Guianga. This made Davao City the largest city in the world with a territory of 2,244 square kilometers or 244,400 hectares.

On October 16, 1936, the bill was signed into law by President Manuel L. Quezon. The following year, on March, 1937, Executive Proclamation No. 132 was issued that formally organized the City of Davao.

It was during the term of Mayor Elias B. Lopez that the celebration of the foundation of City of Davao was made a week-long celebration that culminated on March 16.

Today, it is the most progressive city in Mindanao and the most livable city in the country. Top five when it comes to Best Human Resource and top ten Best Asian Cities.

Epilogue: The Different Kind of Love Story

February is always associated with loving couple cuddling each other endlessly and wishing the night of February 14 would never end.

Leaders love their followers is another kind of love story. The employer loves her employees because the company sales is going up and this is another kind of love story. One thing I know is that the difference between playing to win and playing not to lose is the difference between success and mediocrity.

A leader can be successful if he has made the right change and thus get the smaller part of credits, but if things didn't worked out, would get the greater part of blame. Also goes the same way for the employers.

The love story that I am talking about here is the love story between you and your inner being. The main point is, you can not love someone unless you love yourself first. Neither a leader can be a leader when he or she is not leading himself or herself.

Let us start giving to ourself first before we start giving to others. And before February 14 comes, give yourself a break and share something to yourself too.

Month Love: Long Distance Relationship

I personally was in a long distance relationship and it was a great experience. Here are some that I have learned when I was in that relationship.

I'll go to the moon for you

For a couple who has been together for like months only, the feeling of getting to spend an hour with your girlfriend is like the only rush thing to do. I, for one, would like to spend an evening with my guy but he live thousand miles away from me. The first year is full of enthusiasm. I want him to spend every moment of the day with him. He talks about coming over. I ask, what if I don't show up, he would say, I'll find you. Sweet talks, sweet words and sweet smiles always kept your heart melting. This is the time that you both feel there is nothing on earth but only the two of you.

How do you define the long distance relationship?

First, I would definitely say, acknowledge the very fact that him coming over is not that easy and it needs money. Even if there is enough to buy tickets, don't ever let him come unless there is more than enough. Why? Because both of you will never enjoy the days together without money. Come on, be practical.

Second, list down what are the things needed to be able to continuously communicate with one another.

Third, understand the other side if there will be things that he or she can not do or could not buy for the moment. Especially when girl wants guy to buy camera, or new gadgets that makes distance so near.

Fourth, and the very most important of all, TRUST your partner.

Remaining faithfully yours, my love

If anyone who will get into this kind of relationship, you have to know that there can be something that will happen in between. It can either break or make the relationship stronger. Do not restrict your partner to go out. I, again, would be jealous if he went out with friends because I know he can meet someone in there.

The biggest thing to conquer is the absence of physical contact. It is dreading to think about this fact.

Let fate take its course

Be happy for the moment that there is someone out there loving you. But always stay true, if you found someone tell your partner but if you are into something big and you are sure it will hurt your lover, tell him or her too.

December Blog: 5 Things To Make This Christmas Better (The Entrepreneurial Way)

I always wanted to give someone a gift this Christmas. I want to give her this, and him that, and these people in the office these little office things. Oh well, I always end up not buying for myself too. Now I would just say, there will be payroll the next 15 days.

Here's how I will make this Christmas a win-win situation.

1. My officemates don't have time to go out and look for things to buy. I ask them what do they need to so I can look for them secretly. When I found that piece of junk I show it to them and say, "My friend's selling one. What color you like again?"

I earn a little, and I help them buy things without getting out to the mall. I'm the walking mall!

2. Some people don't know how to wrap. Yes, I buy Christmas wrappers and wrap it for them, but I don't wrap inside the office but I told them I will get this wrapped inside the mall. They never know, when I was at a food station, I wrapped it myself.

I am the wrapper.

3. As a wrapper myself, I make loot bags too. They will just pick what loot bags they like.

4. I sell brownies and other sweet goodies. I don't make them myself. I don't have time at all. I look for someone who will bake them for me. I gave that baker an extra job which will earn him or her an extra income for Christmas. And then, I sell it to those who are lazy to look for gifts.

5. Tell them about your idea of what you are doing. You'll never know that you might be able exchange some stuff with them without spending too much.

Hope you will have a merry merrier merriest Christmas ever.

December Blog: What to Eat This Christmas That will Bring You Good Luck

In order to be lucky this Christmas and for the next year, some Chinese friends told me to eat only prawns or shrimps and some big squid. Why? You got to eat only this kind of food because they say it will bring you luck.

I didn't ask for the details because they said, to know the reasons is like throwing away the luck that was pass on to you. I wonder why is that.

As for the reason why shrimps and prawns are to be served, is because the color after cooking is orange. (This is just a wild guess. Don't put your trust on this article.)

Does anyone here knows why we should only eat squid and shrimps?

"Chi fan le mei you?" "Have you eaten yet?"

December Blog: Make a Kid Happy This Christmas

I know everyone wants to give to someone this Christmas season. And I thank you all who clicked the link at twitter.

I know too that I can call on to others to help me raise these toys for the kids at Davao Medical Center's House of Hope. Who are these kids? Well, these are cancer patients and they are fighting cancer at a very young age. With as much as 100 pesos, we can make 10 kids happy or even more. These kids does not need too much. They need your presence and feel that there are others who care for them.

Help me raise the toys or books. Drop it off at MTC Academy, E. Quirino Ave., Davao City. Call us at 222-6822, if you want us to pick it up.

Merry Christmas!

And in advance, thank you.

December Blog: I'm Joining a Charity Activity

I am fortunate enough that even if I am in a rocky situation, God didn't give me any cancer like these kids at Davao Medical Center's House of Hope.

Now, to continue giving joy, DXSS Mom's Radio and MTC Academy thought of giving time and toys to the cancer patients in Davao.

The two establishments are hoping to raise enough toys and food for the kids. They would also want you to participate in raising the toys and food.
Please call 222 6822 for more inquiry.

Let us see them smile with our toys.

We Have Set The Date

My Teddy and I set the month for our big day. I am so excited and I can't wait. I don't know why I waited for so long for this guy.

They say that loving someone is not a thing that needs definition nor explanation. It is an out of the blue kinda thing and you simply don't know what's the reasons.

Within the relationship, I still have those moments where I ask myself why and I would just smile because I can't give an answer. When I ask some friends about it they simply say, because you love him.

After all the sitting, waiting, and wishing he's finally coming and we will be tied up together.

All smiles and so much joy in my heart.

Celebrating My Cousin's Wedding Anniversary with Pancit Canton

We don't have that much money to spend an anniversary. It is not my anniversary nor my auntie's anniversary. It is an anniversary for my cousin Michelle. We just want to celebrate and I think this is the best way we can tell these guys that we love them.

I'm sorry guys but all we can buy is Satemi, partnered with bread and peanut butter.

Transcribing for MICT

On the second day of the Mindanao ICT Congress, there were different talks at the different cinemas at NCCC Mall where the congress was held. I was tasked to listen to the session 2 track 3 which is Innovation: New Media for Information Exchange because I was one of those who volunteered to transcribe it later.

At the end of the day, 6:30pm, the recorded voice file was pass on to me for transcription. I found out I am not going to transcribe for the session that I was in to. I am going to transcribe for the session 1 track 3 which is Innovation: Knowledge Innovation. It was Mr. James Velasquez, Country Director of IBM. I was not able to listen to his whole speech so I am having difficulty transcribing. There were a couple of times when he was told to say it louder. It was recorded through a tape recorder and once it gets here at MTC Academy we have to record it again using digital recording. In the second recording, there were already other noises added to the first recording. Once you are listening to it with the earphones you are like listening to someone in the airport.

Oh well, I don't have the choice either. Anyway, I was able to finish 75 lines after 30 minutes. Truth is, that's not a good line count for a transcriptionist.

What does it mean when you say "Thank You"

There is another phrase that we can use to make a difference. That is saying thank you to everyone who have helped you in some way or another.

On my way to the office today, I took a 40 minute jeepney ride so that I can save money for the upcoming Christmas. In my wallet I have Php 50.00 and I only need Php 20 to pay for the ride. I sat at the back, 5 people away from the driver, so my Php 50 would pass to five people first before it will get to the driver. I said, "Bayad manong. Palihug ko." I got the Php 30 change and then I said thank you. All five of them smiled back at me.

Whenever someone say thank you, I believe it can make the day for one person. It brings positive aura or atmosphere that will be with that person for the rest of the day.

It is like saying I love you to someone special. But for someone we don't know we can always say thank you for the effort of helping us, even if it's a tiny effort.

Thank you to all who take time to read my blog.
